Empowering the Next Generation of Women in Life Sciences

Applications are now open for the 2025 Future Health Leaders Program, a national initiative by Research Australia in partnership with AbbVie. This program is designed to support and inspire female Year 11 students interested in health and medical research (HMR) by providing hands-on experiences, career insights, and leadership development opportunities.

Program Overview

The Future Health Leaders Program brings together 12 students from across Australia for a full-day session in Canberra in August 2025, where they will:
Explore diverse career pathways in health and medical research.
Engage with leading female professionals in research, education, industry, and government.
Gain hands-on experience in world-class science facilities.
Participate in online mentoring sessions to support their future career journey.

This program is part of Research Australia's commitment to improving diversity, equity, and representation in STEMM leadership.

Who Can Apply?

✔ Open to any Year 11 student in Australia who identifies as female.
✔ Students from rural, regional, and lower socioeconomic areas are encouraged to apply.
Financial support is available to assist successful applicants in attending the session in Canberra.
