Calling Young Science Communicators – Film Competition Now Open

The Sleek Geeks Science Eureka Prize, presented by the Australian Museum in partnership with Dr Karl Kruszelnicki and Adam Spencer, is back for 2025. This annual science film competition is designed for primary and secondary students with a passion for science and storytelling.

About the Competition

Students are invited to create a 1–2 minute video that communicates a scientific concept in a clear, creative, and engaging way. The theme for 2025 is open, meaning students can choose any scientific topic they’re curious or passionate about.

Entries can be submitted by individuals or teams of up to six students. Finalists and winners are chosen based on scientific accuracy, creativity, and communication skills.

Prizes

  • First Prize (each category): $2,000
  • Runner-Up (each category): $1,000
  • Finalists (each category): $250

Categories:

  • Primary School (Years 3–6)
  • Secondary School (Years 7–12)

Entries close: Friday, 12 April 2025 at 7:00 pm (AEST)
